The Hermes study is looking at a new medicine called ziltivekimab to see if it helps people with certain types of heart failure. Heart failure is when the heart doesn’t pump blood as well as it should, which can make people feel very tired, short of breath, and weak.

In this study, people with two types of heart failure, called HFmrEF and HFpEF, are given either ziltivekimab or a fake medicine (called a placebo) once a month. The goal is to see if ziltivekimab can help reduce heart problems and help people feel better over time. Researchers also want to know if it can help people stay out of the hospital and live longer.

This study is important because heart failure affects millions of people worldwide, and there are limited treatments for these specific types. By reducing inflammation in the body, ziltivekimab might make a difference for patients with these types of heart failure.

Hermes

The LAAOS-4 study is exploring whether a small device called the WATCHMAN can help prevent strokes in people with a heart condition called atrial fibrillation (AF). AF is a problem that causes an irregular heartbeat, which can lead to blood clots forming in a part of the heart called the left atrial appendage (LAA). These clots can travel to the brain and cause a stroke.

The WATCHMAN device is put in the LAA to block it and stop clots from forming there. In this study, researchers want to see if using this device along with blood-thinning medicines is better at preventing strokes than using blood thinners alone. This study is important because it may help find a new way to keep people with AF safe from strokes.








LAAOS-4

The Balance D study (also known as BalanceD-HF) is a Phase III clinical trial investigating the effects of two drugs, balcinrenone and dapagliflozin, on heart health. This study is for people who have heart failure and poor kidney function. Here’s what the study is about, in simple terms:

Purpose:
The study aims to see if using both balcinrenone and dapagliflozin together can better protect the heart and kidneys compared to using dapagliflozin alone. Researchers hope this combination may help lower the chances of serious heart problems, such as heart-related hospital visits or even death due to heart conditions.

Why It’s Important:
For people with heart failure and reduced kidney function, there are few treatment options, and these patients face higher risks for serious health issues. The study hopes to find a safer and more effective treatment to support heart health in these individuals.

BalanceD-HF

The Bax HTN study is looking at a new medicine called Baxdrostat, which may help lower blood pressure in people who have high blood pressure that is hard to control, even with other medications.

Why is this study important?
High blood pressure is a serious health problem. It can damage the heart, brain, and kidneys over time. Some people’s blood pressure stays high even when they take medicine, and this puts them at higher risk for health issues. This study hopes to find a new way to lower blood pressure for these people.

What happens in the study?
Participants will take either Baxdrostat or a pill with no medicine (called a placebo) every day. The study will compare how well Baxdrostat works to lower blood pressure and check if it is safe. This will help doctors understand if Baxdrostat can be a good option for people who need more help controlling their blood pressure.



Bax HTN Study

The TaRGET study is a research project to help people with a heart condition called arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM). In ACM, the heart has trouble sending steady electrical signals, which can lead to irregular heartbeats.

The goal of this study is to see if a medicine called tideglusib can reduce the number of extra heartbeats in people with ACM. Extra heartbeats can make people feel their heart pounding, which can be uncomfortable or even dangerous over time.

Participants in this study will take tideglusib or a placebo (a pill without medicine) for six months. Doctors will use heart monitors to count the extra heartbeats and check if tideglusib works better than the placebo.

This research is important because if tideglusib helps, it could give people with ACM a new treatment option to keep their hearts beating more regularly and help them feel better.

The REAL AF study is looking at a heart procedure called ablation, which helps treat a condition called atrial fibrillation (AF). AF happens when the heart beats in an irregular way, which can make people feel tired, dizzy, or even cause serious health problems.

In this study, doctors want to learn how well ablation works for people with AF and how safe it is. They are checking if ablation helps stop the heart from beating irregularly over time and if there are any risks during or after the procedure.

Patients in the study will visit the doctor several times to see how their heart is doing. By following these patients, doctors hope to understand better ways to help people with AF feel better and stay healthier in the future. This study includes people from the United States and Canada and will continue until 2027.

REAL AF

The LEFT-HF study is looking at two ways of using pacemakers to help people with heart failure and a specific kind of heart problem called heart block. In this study, one group will have their pacemaker set up in a usual way, which paces the heart on the right side. The other group will try a different setup called “left bundle branch pacing,” which is thought to be more like the heart’s natural rhythm. This study wants to find out which setup is better at helping people avoid serious heart problems and improve their quality of life.

Researchers hope this study will show if the new pacemaker setup can lower the chances of having more heart problems, like heart failure or heart-related hospital visits.

LEFT HF

This study, called the Quality of Life after Cardioversion Study, looks at ways to help people with a heart rhythm problem called atrial fibrillation (AF). AF makes the heart beat fast and irregularly, which can make people feel tired, dizzy, or short of breath. The study wants to find out if a procedure called "cardioversion" helps people feel better in their daily lives. Cardioversion is a treatment that tries to reset the heart's rhythm.

In the study, some people will get cardioversion, while others will get a "sham" treatment (a pretend procedure) to compare results. Researchers want to see if the real treatment improves quality of life more than the pretend one. They will check how participants feel about their energy, mood, and daily activities after the treatment. This information could help doctors understand if cardioversion is a good option for helping people with AF feel better.

QOL CAF RCT

This study looks at how using remote care can make life easier and safer for people with heart devices, like defibrillators. Normally, people with these devices have to go to the clinic for check-ups. But with remote care, doctors can check the devices from a distance. This means patients don’t have to travel as often and can get care from home.

The goal of the study is to see if this remote care helps people stay healthier by reducing trips to the hospital and preventing problems with the device. It may also save time and money for patients, especially those living far from clinics. This approach aims to make heart care easier, safer, and more convenient for patients and their families.

RPM CIED RCT

The CHASM-CS study is looking at a heart condition called Cardiac Sarcoidosis (CS). CS happens when tiny clumps of cells form in the heart, which can cause serious health issues. This study aims to learn more about people with CS and how it affects them.

The researchers are following two groups of patients. The first group has CS that affects the heart, while the second group has sarcoidosis in other body parts but not in the heart. By comparing these two groups, scientists hope to understand more about who might develop heart problems and how to spot these issues early.

This research will help doctors find better ways to diagnose and treat CS and may improve heart health for people with sarcoidosis in the future.
