Do you remember writing a Letter to Future Self during O Week? Well, the year has fondly past, and it's time to revisit the words your younger self has left for you! 📝

📮 If you're unable to collect your letter during this time, you may request for someone else to pick it up. Kindly fill in the pick-up consent form. 

*If your letter is not collected, a member of your residential team will arrange to pass it to you at a later time.

Take the Smartphone Addiction Scale

Over the past year, I’ve become painfully aware of how much time I spend on my smartphone.

My breaks are often punctuated with a video or music playing in the background. And if not that, with mindless scrolling—(yes) even at mealtimes. While I’ve enjoyed having one less screen after quitting Netflix, it’s been much harder to let go of my smartphone.

Recently, I even built a “smartphone jail” just to put some distance between myself and it at home, and to relearn how to be present… even when I’m alone.

If I’m already feeling this as a millennial, I wonder how much harder it might be for you as students. There is now a growing body of research linking excessive smartphone use to poorer attention, sleep, and mental health outcomes.

If this feels familiar, consider taking the Smartphone Addiction Scale (3 min) to see how you compare to others. And if you’d rather talk it through with someone, feel free to reach out to your RFs or RSLMs.

A Note to the NUSC Community

Join RSLM Bianca for a cosy, hands-on session piecing together a jigsaw puzzle from The Magic Puzzle Company.

These 1,000-piece puzzles come with richly detailed artwork, a small surprise at the end, and lots of easter eggs to find along the way. They draw on ideas from tabletop games, optical illusions, and a bit of magic.

Consider this an invitation to slow down and get lost in something different for a change. You’re most welcome to work on the puzzle in silence too.

A small snack will be provided for those who stay at least 20 minutes. We hope you’ll linger a while—long enough to settle in, and maybe lose track of time, piece by piece. 🧩 No registration required. Come drop by!

Cultivate joy and mindfulness in your life by designing your own Dopamine Menu. Inspired by the TikTok trend, dopamine menus are a personal curation of activities that spark joy and bring fulfilment. 

For Wellness Week, we invite everyone to design their own menu to provide a series of alternate options to doomscrolling on their phone. From getting a sweet treat to going on holiday, any and all activities that you enjoy have a place on the menu. Look at our example of a dopamine menu for more details.
