This is one of the places that makes Colorado extra special. It’s one of those cool shops -so many cool things & so much talent packed comfortably in a small space. Forget about walking football fields of distance in target to get some cheap Teflon pan. You know, people have to understand that it takes a long time to ship something even if you ship it “express” it takes more than one day. Typically 2-4 days . So forget about using Amazon or driving further to some Target stocked with throw away stuff from China and Vietnam by kids they can barely spell and offer crap knowledge or experience about finer cooking . I walk out with joy in every bag. Go here . Support the store even if the same $150 item is on amazon for $15 -$20 less. Otherwise Colorado becomes a wasteland of Target , Walmart , Costco, Home Depot the entire spirit of your love for a place suffers. I mean, isn’t it worth it to lose $100 bucks a year to have a town with vibrant store owners Who loved sharing their job and knowing about cooking because there’s not much to do other than than ski fish and hike? What do you do after the sun goes down- you cook . You’ll find real experts here. And they’re kind of smart because they will carry the crap LODGE cast-iron pans (to get you in to seeing a familiar brand) - Just so that you do have a low cost alternative a place to go familiar names but they’re also introduced you to things that are better, more versatile, that look better in your kitchen & make you feel proud to be a cook. They’ll get you into it. These type of stores I try to go into a couple times a week and buy something, anything. And then give them feedback on it. Right now, I’m in the market for a carbon steel pan, When I thought I was going to be looking for a vintage ERIE pan or a Grizwold pan … But then these Collage guys start extolling the virtues of carbon steel. I only tried cheap carbon steel pans prior and that’s probably why I had a negative experience at other kitchen stores . Let me tell you this if you don’t buy the bottom of the line “survival stuff” here and You let them lead you on a guided journey to a better kitchen. Your life will be better for it. This year I bought some Teak Haus marine quality cutting boards . They are incredibly beautiful, so beautiful in fact that I went to a local hardware store and got a series of finer sandpapers and some special teak oil wax mix that I found, and now they look beyond spectacular! My regrets, I didn’t buy that carbon steel pan that was at Collage on sale. And I’m kicking myself because I keep doing that the store would be out of business. So as soon as they come back after mud season, I’m calling them up Ship me the pan that I want. A new guy bought the store And he is dedicated. This guy wants to KNOW YOU as a customer. He wants to sell you the most joy possible At a reasonable price And if the price doesn’t “seem reasonable”, I’m sure there’s a lot of Value in the product for long-term use . And for you kids, I ‘ll give you the best advice. Find a place like this and tell them to help you build your kitchen from scratch what do I buy and in what order- let them slowly plan your kitchen. Having that type of relationship with one of these type stores is what led me to be a Fantastic Cook most of my friends do not see any point to go out. Now- There is not a single steakhouse in America that I can’t out grill. No where , Vegas, New York, Paris …Texas. That’s the easy part (grilling) then you get going on the other sauces and so forth . And this place will be there to hold your hand and lead you through the myriad of choices every step of the way. The store by the way beats every store of its kind that’s similar to it in Aspen, Basalt, Glenwood Springs, Avon, Grand Junction, etc. It’s probably better than most stores in larger cities that for us on this sort of thing …. So how is this possible ? Because Specialty stores in large cities have a lot of competition and the top vendors don’t sell to every store. This has all the good stuff!!! Love ❤️ this place !
