What is the adoption process?

We follow the National No Kill Advocacy Guidelines which practices conversation-based adoptions and education to find great homes for our rescues.

Simply send us an email to dogtrailrides@gmail.com or trrkittens@gmail.com to learn more about the animal you are interested in.

You will work directly with the foster to schedule meet and greets, ask questions, fill out adoption contract and take payment.

Most animals can go home on the same day as the adoption is completed.

What are the adoption fees?

Accepted Answer

We do not have a set fee schedule as we have animals of various ages, breeds and special need levels.

All adoption fee information can be found on the Petfinder profile of the animal you are interested in.

Can I adopt two cats together?

Yes!

We have bonded pairs or littermates that would love to be adopted together. Cats do best when they have a friend.

Do you offer a foster-to-adopt program?

Not at this time.

Do you accept donations?

Accepted Answer

Yes!

Both monetary and physical items.

Our current list of needs:
Towels
Thin fleece blankets
Purina one puppy food (both wet and dry)
Cat litter
Fussie cat canned food

Can I adopt two dogs together?

Accepted Answer

Depends.

Littermates- no. There is a phenomenon called Littermate Syndrome. Littermate syndrome is a behavioral condition in dogs where two puppies from the same litter, or two young dogs of similar age, become overly attached to each other, leading to difficulties forming healthy bonds with humans and other animals. This intense bond can result in various behavioral issues, including aggression, separation anxiety, and difficulties with training.

Dogs of different ages adopted at the same time- possibly. The situation is dependent upon the amount of work the adopter is willing to put into each dog's individual care.

Yes! All animals in our care are microchipped.

Do you have a physical location where I can drop off donations?

We have donation bins tucked into the bushes next to our office door and have volunteers empty them into the rescue regularly.

Do you have a waiting list?

No, but highly desirable breeds may have other adopters interested as well.

Do I have to fill out an application?

Accepted Answer

Nope!

We practice conversation-based adoptions. We do not have a formal application, rather we have an adoption contract.

Not all adopters will be good fits for their potential animal, all rights to deny and adopter fall within the rights of the rescue.

Question 13

Is a home visit required?

Accepted Answer

No home visit is required.

We do require you to own your own home or have landlord approval prior to adopting.

All members of the home should be included in the decision to adopt.
