Affiliated Events
Affiliated Events
SIGCSE TS 2023 - Affiliated Events Affiliated Events (including formerly separate “Pre-Symposium Events”) are a venue for SIGCSE sub-communities or groups to arrange a time and place to gather and present or discuss topics of interest. This sometimes happens within the context of a meal or reception during the conference. We encourage submissions for events focusing on existing and emerging subfields, areas and groups of diversity, and bringing together communities of practice. We especially encourage events that help to develop new faculty and leaders in computing education. The SIGCSE TS ...

Panels
Panels
Panel sessions provide an opportunity for expert panelists to present their views on a specific topic, and then to discuss these views among themselves and with the audience. Usually, a panel session starts with a brief introduction of the panel topic and the participants, followed by short presentations by the panelists giving their views. Panel sessions are scheduled for 75 minutes total, but keep in mind that successful panels must allow sufficient opportunity (about 30 minutes) for an interactive question-and-answer (Q&A) period involving both the panelists and the audience. When ...

Workshops
Workshops
Workshops provide an in-depth review of, or introduction to, a topic of interest, and should provide participants with materials and/or ideas that are immediately useful. To this end, workshop presenters should provide participants with handouts, online materials, or other tangible documents/artifacts outlining or otherwise supporting the workshop content. Each 3-hour workshop should engage participants in learning new techniques and technologies designed to foster education, scholarship, and collaboration. Workshops do not have schedule conflicts with the technical sessions. Workshops do ...

Posters
Posters
Posters provide an opportunity for an informal presentation featuring “give and take” with conference attendees. Presenting a poster is a good way in which to discuss and receive feedback on work in progress that has not been fully developed into a paper. Posters should not be previously published, as a paper or a poster. Any topic relevant to the conference focus areas is suitable for presentation as a poster. These include new results and insights around developing, implementing, or evaluating computing programs, curricula, and courses. However, the topic should lend itself to presentat ...
Birds of a Feather
Birds of a Feather
A Birds of a Feather (BoF) provides an environment for researchers and practitioners with similar interests to meet for informal discussions. Proposers of BOF sessions should serve as discussion leaders only. BOFs are not intended to be presentations. Each BoF, whether hosted in-person or online, should involve active participation for attendees and should be planned for a 50 minute session. BoF proposals should include plans to facilitate active participation for attendees of diverse backgrounds. Proposers may find the following resources useful in identifying inclusive practices to inclu ...
