AMAs generally occur on social media platforms, such as YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. But the most popular place to find AMAs is Reddit. Its r/IAmA subreddit is one of the platform’s most popular subreddits. Founded in 2009, it currently has 22.4 million members.

AMAs are popular because of their intimate nature. While traditional interviews usually have a predetermined set of questions, AMAs offer a unique and unpredictable experience, as interviewees are unaware of the questions.

These interviews also allow the public to participate, as questions are often plucked from comment sections and replies, allowing everyone to join in on the fun. Plus, questions tend to be more varied and diversified.

Jubilee and WIRED are great examples of AMAs. Both have YouTube channels with different interview styles – Jubilee hosts people from all walks of life, while WIRED’s signature Autocomplete Interviews have gained popularity over the years.
