Artist Statement "Burn Down The Colony" is inspired by my work with Spotify Sound Up, looking at different ways to record our stories on our own terms in our own ways. Basically claiming sovereignty over sound waves. "Burn Down The Colony" is a working title to a collection of episodes in our soon-to-be-released podcast, that essentially reaffirms, that these institutions and systems will never be for us nor will they be key to our survival and liberation.

Artist Statement "You Cannot Own Stolen Land" is inspired by the conversations I've had about Land Back and Indigenous Governance on social media platforms, such as Clubhouse, Twitter and Instagram. "You Cannot Own Stolen Land" is a direct quote from conversations that I've had which centred Land Back, Land Trauma and Indigenous ways of being. This quote was shared online to emphasise the importance of not just Land Back but the very understanding that this colony and its government will never be legitimate.

Artist Statement Our "Sovereign" tee is inspired by daily life of being a Sovereign Blackfulla in Meanjin. To be sovereign is to understand that we have agency over our bodies; that these lands not only need us for them to thrive, but we are the only ones with the knowledge to govern them; that no matter how many ancestors that we forget, they will always remember us; that our governance systems for all our countries will always outweigh the colonial laws that try to govern our lands; that we never gave up our lands, or freedoms and we are owed the right of self-determination. Our sovereignty was never ceded. We will always be sovereign, and they will continue hating us for this reason; but pay them no mind, they wish they were as deadly as us.

Care and washing instructions can be found on the tags inside the hoodie. Artist Statement Our "Sovereign" hoodie was the very first healing project I worked on and designed carefully. This hoodie was made to celebrate our Blackness but also centre the values and words I hold dear to my heart and try to live by; which is also our tagline, 'Sovereign, Sacred, Staunch'. I wanted this hoodie to be a celebration, that every Blackfulla who saw it or wore it, felt seen, felt loved and knew that care went into every decision and stitch. That I thought about our bodies, our hair, our styles and shapes; This piece is a celebration embroidered together. Wear it with pride.
