Ideally, you should begin your search with a locator about 60-90 days before your lease ends. Apartment complexes typically only have visibility about 60 days in advance.

The properties I work with require 600+ credit, no bad rental history (broken leases or evictions)  and no criminal record (felonies & misdemeanors). Typically, if any of the following apply to your situation it will make it more difficult to get approved for a unit. Your best resource would be working with a locating company that assists in second chance leasing.
