About the project
I’m Pixie, I started this project because the NYC art world felt overwhelming and gatekept when my mom arrived. I wanted to turn what we've learned into a guide that helps artists feel less alone, more confident, and ready to take up space.
Pixie Trails: is a community-informed handbook exploring how emerging creatives in New York navigate resources, burnout, networking, and anxiety. Rather than creating another institutional guide, this project asks: what would it look like to build something shaped by lived experience?
Through surveys, interviews, and open call submissions, Pixie Trails: gathers stories, art, care practices, and resource-sharing strategies from artists and artistically inclined individuals starting their creative careers. The goal is to create a companion — something tangible, reflective, and grounded in community wisdom.
Your responses will help shape a publication centered on sustainability, connection, and thriving in the arts—not just surviving.
