Question 1

Why Fox News?

Accepted Answer

Fox News bills itself as a news source. A source for news. For facts. For the truth. But that's not what it gives us. What you get instead is opinion dressed like news. You get sensational headlines that only tell part of the story. You get polarization. You get fear.

We don't have state media in the US. Yet Fox News has a direct line to the president and will say whatever he wants. That's not the way an independent free press should work.

Question 2

Why are you doing this?

Accepted Answer

Fox News cannot survive without ad revenue. Companies who advertise on Fox News are directly contributing to the problem. That money goes directly into the pockets of the people poisoning the minds of the American people by spewing propaganda and selling it as news.

If we can bother enough companies that they will pull their ads (and stand with us in solidarity with some basic demands), we will inch closer to the world we want: One where it's clear what IS news and what ISN'T.

Question 3

Why now?

Accepted Answer

Mis- and disinformation are huge problems, especially in the lead up to the midterm election in just a few weeks. We anticipate Fox News to be a large part of the problems we will inevitably see leading up to and after the election.

They've been priming their viewers for months to distrust the outcome of the election. They've snuck in a narrative about voter fraud and "illegals" voting into other stories.

It's clear that they're lulling their viewers into a world of falsehoods where they can perpetuate the lies coming from the administration: an authoritarian regime that wants to stay in power at all costs.

Question 4

What's the approach?

Accepted Answer

It's simple really: We're going to call a specific company as often as we can to clog up the works and make it hard for them to do regular business.

We're not boycotting.
We're not shaming.
We're just being a nuisance and expressing our demands in the process.

Oh and adding in some whimsy where possible. There isn't enough whimsy in this world.

Question 5

What are our demands?

Accepted Answer

We demand that the company:
-Pulls all ads from Fox News and publicly stands with us, declaring they will not reinstate them until:
1. Fox News removes the word "News" from their name to accurately reflect their content
2. All broadcasts are either pre-certified or (preferably) are fact checked live on air by PolitiFact using a permanent on-screen ticker

Question 6

What is Chewy's phone number?

Accepted Answer

1-800-672-4399

Question 7

What is the link to live chat?

Accepted Answer

https://www.chewy.com/customer-care?signInFromChat=true

Question 8

Do you have any tips when calling/chatting?

Accepted Answer

Yes!

-Be nice
-Be friendly
-Be funny (if you can be)
-Please stay on hold until someone answers - this is the whole point!
-Make the call last for as long as you feel comfortable, but no longer than 2-3 minutes
-Give 5 stars on a survey if you are offered one (if there is a question about the company, give 1 star) - when in doubt, give a perfect score
-Communicate our demands in each communication
-Only give the information you feel comfortable providing
-Remember that you're not calling to receive customer service. You don't need anything. You aren't ordering anything. You're just trying to talk to someone. Our whole purpose is to clog up the phone lines.

Question 9

What is their email address?

Accepted Answer

corporate@chewy.com

Question 10

Do you have any tips for emails?

Accepted Answer

Why yes. Emails should be less silly. This is a great place to state our demands clearly. We have an example on our website, but make sure to customize your communication so it doesn't get caught in a spam filter or they don't ignore it immediately. Personalize where possible.
