Deposits boil down to a promise to show up and continue to show up until the project is completed, and income that I can use to gather necessary supplies to be ready for that appointment.

As a single mom to 3 teenagers and a toddler I still inevitably have unexpected days off. Being self employed means no paid sick days and no paid vacation days as well as paying for the space I provide services in as well as equipment, supplies, continued education, and licensing. For me this also means saving everything I can during tax time when its busy so I can still keep the lights on in summer when pools are more fun than tattoos. But also winter when holidays bleed everyone's wallets dry and art just wasn't in the budget.

If someone decides the free tickets to see the Chief's game is worth the loss of their $200 deposit I may not be able to pay whatever bills I'd have paid with the $625 I planned to earn but I can at least grab a handful of groceries, diapers, and a tank of gas.

What is a Deposit?


Skin abnormalities and/or avoidable superficial injuries to the area planned to be tattooed without informing the artist 48+ hours that the area is still able to be tattooed will result in loss of deposit. For example: cuts, sunburns, numbing products allergic reaction, numbing cream sensitivities, rash, a tattoo (healed or unhealed), razor burn, etc.

Arriving more than 15 minutes late for reasons other than emergent situations may result in reschedule and loss of deposit. For example: over sleeping, road construction, forgot to charge your phone so alarm didnt go off, grandma died last week (yes these have been used) would lose a deposit. Flat tire while in route, tractor taking the whole road (this one happened to me), a funeral with its customary line of police escorted mourners has blocked the road, there in a police stand off blocking your route and you had to turn around (again have been used) no loss of deposit.

Late or Lack of Communication 

Special circumstances such as unplanned pregnancy, long term illnesses or injuries which involve abstaining from being tattooed for over 8 months will result in a physical gift certificate in the amount of the deposit which can be redeemed within two years instead of one from the payment date. 

More than 5 reschedules in a year (for circumstances other than health, safety, and emergencies) may result in a fee of up to 50% of deposit cost (before discounts and/or promos).

Worries, Concerns, or Oopsies

Always use clean hands when you wash your tattoo

Do not use a washcloth, loofah, or abrasive rag

Do not itch, pick, rub, or scratch the tattoo

Do not shave the area while your tattoo heals

Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds (as well as self tanners and spray tans)

Avoid strenuous activities or workouts

Avoid wearing tight and restricted clothing

Do not apply Neosporin, Vaseline, Bactine, or any other medicated/fragrance petroleum products

Do not submerge the tattoo in water (bath, hot tub, pool, sauna, salt tank, lake, river)

 *You must wait until the tattoo is fully healed around three weeks before you can enter a body of water

Aftercare Regardless of Wrap

Leave wrap on for two to four hours

Remove wrap and immediately wash tattoo with clean hands using unscented and antibacterial soap (hand soap not body wash)

Using your hand continue until it is not greasy or slimy feeling, do not use loofahs or other exfoliating materials 

Pat dry with clean paper towel, but do not rub the tattoo

After the first day, apply a small amount of unscented and dye-free lotion as needed, avoid ointments which cut off air to the tattoo

Continue to use a thin layer lotion one to three times per day, do not overmoisturize. Any scabbing should never be sticky or gooey.

Repeat steps 3-5 twice a day for five days

Plasma may continue to leak from the tattoo, it is important to sleep with clean sheets and bedding while keeping in mind stains and rewashing is common for the first few days.



Saran Wrap Aftercare


Leave wrap on for three to seven days, fluid (plasma) inside of the wrap is normal 

Take wrap off immediately if a rash appears or any sign of leaking

Bandage is water RESISTANT not water PROOF so showering (with care to avoid direct continuous contact with water) will not cause damage but if submerged in any fluid for any period of time remove bandage immediately 

After removing wrap immediately wash tattoo with clean hands using unscented and antibacterial soap (hand soap not body wash)

Using your hand continue until it is not greasy or slimy feeling, do not use loofahs or other exfoliating materials 

Pat dry with clean paper towel, but do not rub the tattoo
