Who is Gayle?

My mom, Gayle Loretta Ray Noble (Aug 1946– Jun 2025) was a trailblazing engineer with 27 finalized patents and 25 patent applications, a Grateful Dead broadcast under her belt, and code written for the Stealth Fighter — all while raising horses, kids, and hell.

But beyond the resume, she was radically kind, brilliantly eccentric, and fiercely herself. Planet Gayle is how I keep her orbit going, one story, laugh, and act of kindness at a time.

What’s a 'Gayleian'?

Mom always called herself an “alien.” For years I thought she meant she wasn’t from Earth. Now I know what she really meant: she was fully alive in a world that sometimes forgets how to be.

In short a Gayleian is someone who is:
- Delightfully Unconventional
- Deeply Kind
- Decidedly Themselves

Gayleians are humans tuned to a different frequency. The one under all the noise, where joy is still possible and kindness still matters.

Why is it called Planet Gayle?

Mom didn’t just live in the world — she kind of broadcast her own. Kindness was her gravity. Curiosity was her atmosphere. Odd joy was the forecast most days, with a 100% chance of unpredictability.

When you step into Planet Gayle, you’re stepping into the world she carried with her — the one where it’s safe to be yourself, where laughter and generosity are the currency, and where imperfection isn’t a flaw, it’s part of the décor.

This isn’t about escaping Earth. It’s about remembering how good it can feel to be human … especially when you stop taking it so seriously.

Hi, I’m Nisse — Gayle’s daughter, and your tour guide to this little corner of the galaxy.

I started Planet Gayle to share my mom’s magic and, along the way, found myself weaving in my own story of caregiving, grief, humor, and the weird, wonderful ways we stay human.

When I’m not here, I’m working, eating, reading, writing the Planet Gayle book, dreaming up new creative projects, or running a charming little craft rum company with my soulmate.

Basically, I collect stories, make things, and try to live as Gayleian as possible.
