A new restaurant that’s so well thought out! Loved the food and ambience so much I came back again within 2 days. The yakitoris are grilled to perfection and the highballs pair beautifully with them. My personal favs were the shiso strawberry and houjicha. They also have seasonal grilled vegetables available depending on stock, and the steamed kaya sweet potato brioche for dessert was the cherry on top. Overall it was an amazing dining experience!

The restaurant specialises in chicken yakitori, offering different cuts and parts, each grilled to perfection. Every skewer was incredibly flavourful, but the ribs were a clear standout — juicy, tender, and packed with smoky goodness. You can truly taste the skill and passion behind each dish.

The hospitality was exceptional. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely well taken care of throughout the meal. A special mention to Erica, Leo and Shane for delivering such a memorable experience.

Overall, an outstanding dining experience with great food, welcoming service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back.

Might be the best yakitori experience I’ve ever had.

They use 22 different parts of the chicken and turn them into incredible yakitori - you can really tell there’s been a lot of R&D behind the menu. The chicken oyster has a distinct, “new” kind of chicken flavour that’s super addictive, and for those who love it a bit fatty, the chicken tail is perfect with its spot-on fat-to-meat ratio. The shoulder and skin was also great!

They also offer a rotating seasonal menu using local produce. This time it was roasted green beans with XO sauce, which was a standout dish on its own.

The highballs are excellent too: Japanese-inspired with a local twist. I especially loved the calamansi highball – very refreshing and well balanced.

Overall, a must-visit when you’re in Canggu.

Ever wondered what it’s like to visit an izakaya that serves yakitori using the whole bird? Kaiju is exactly the kind of place that offers an izakaya experience unlike any other. The interior is something else entirely. With its open kitchen and uniquely placed toilets (you have to see them for yourself!), the space instantly reminded me of Tokyo Midnight Diners. It’s a cosy and laid-back spot, perfect for a quiet night out where you can unwind, enjoy a few highballs, and have casual conversations with friends while soaking in the atmosphere. My friends and I decided to leave the ordering in the hands of Erica, one of the owners, and let her guide us through their full chicken course featuring different cuts and parts of the bird. While I don’t usually enjoy the more unusual parts, Kaiju somehow made the experience incredibly enjoyable. Unlike many yakitori places that rely heavily on seasoning, the focus here is on the quality of the chicken itself. The flavours are subtle yet distinctive. There was a unique savoury depth to some of the skewers, almost reminiscent of miso, that I haven't quite found anywhere else. To finish, I highly recommend trying the Sonkit sorbet. The first bite delivers a bright, refreshing kick that cleanses the palate perfectly after a series of rich, smoky skewers. Overall, I had a wonderful evening with my friends. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, especially the owners, Erica and Leon. Their hospitality, combined with the intimate atmosphere, made Kaiju feel less like a restaurant and more like a place where you can truly relax. One final tip: make sure to book a reservation before visiting. The restaurant is often fully booked and seats can fill up quickly. It would be a shame to miss out after making the trip!

Dude, I loved this place. The chicken skin yakitori was easily my favorite—I'm a huge chicken skin fan and they absolutely nailed it. I've had chicken skin at a lot of fancy spots before, and this one definitely didn't disappoint. Besides the chicken skin, the chicken wings and skewered meats were just as delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The cocktails were great too, and the staff made the experience even better. Everyone was friendly, accommodating, and took the time to explain the concept, which made the whole meal feel more enjoyable. Honestly, I can't think of anything to complain about. The price felt justified for the quality, taste, and overall experience. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in Bali.
