About the Exhibition
This exhibition brings together works created in Vevčani over several years by artists with distinct visual languages. What connects them is not a single style, but a shared condition: Vevčani is more than a setting, it becomes a method.
Through co-presence, landscape, dialogue, and duration, the village shapes how images are made and lived. Motifs return across the works, yet always transformed: the house becomes a measure, the village an archive, the landscape a field of traces, and the figure a carrier of memory.
Layered surfaces, shifting colors, and repeated gestures hold the rhythms of hospitality, fatigue, light, and return. Time is present in scraping, repainting, and refusing closure. Presented in New York, these paintings carry an ethos of slowness, intimacy, and attention, offering another rhythm of looking, one grounded in place, material presence, and shared experience.
