Sue tells historical stories about the lives of people who challenge power. A happy, creative person, Sue excels in research, writing, media outreach, public speaking, and preparation of many publication formats. Topics include: Fighting warehouses, envionmental justice, NJ History, The Murder of Wench Betty, NJ Early Black History, Enslaved and Free, Western Monmouth and Old Gloucester Counties, Letters/op-eds related to public history and public policies, and NJ Revolutionary War - Upper Freehold and Allentown tied to the Battle of Monmouth. Sue created a collection in the Monmouth County Archives on Vanishing Vistas and the Upper Freehold Historic Farmland Scenic Byway. Sue also co-created a collection with her husband in Rutgers University Special Collections - Progressive Activist Files. She has held several grants, including being named a Public Scholar for a designated period by the NJ Council for the Humanities, and a consultant on an NEH-funded Rowan University Black History project. Finally, Sue served as a Resident Fellow with the International Center for Jefferson Studies.
