How much does it typically cost to adopt a cat

Accepted Answer

Our adoptable pets come to you spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and up to date on all their vaccinations.  We also provide you with all necessary veterinarian paperwork to ensure you have as complete a medical history as possible. Because our cats and kittens are cared for in foster homes, they are socialized and accustomed to a home environment, including (in many cases) exposure to other cats, dogs and kids! Adoption fees are typically $200, unless it is a special breed

How can I help with Adoptions?

Helping with adoptions on Saturdays 
10:00am-2:00pm but generally need people for 1/2 shifts
Setting up and closing
Introducing families to their potential pets
Filling out adoption paperwork with the adoptors
Helping to answer questions for people who walk up
Helping fosters set up their cats and kittens into display cages
Shopping with adopters
Sanitizing crates and display cages
Visiting and keeping cats company

What are some ways I can help that don't require contact with cats?

​Adoption Call Backs (no animal contact but cat knowledge needed)
​Call back adopters to see how everything is going and offer advice if there are issues
​Computer jobs (no animal contact)
​Registering microchips
Entering Intakes and Available cat information
​Foster Supplies (no animal contact)
​Receive orders and fill for foster pick up
​Inventory (no animal contact)
​Help with inventory at our two storage units
Help when we receive large pallets to move items into storage units

Can I help care for the cats if I can't foster?

Cat care at Pet Smart
Feeding, watering, scooping litter, sweeping out cages and playing with the cats
Shifts are one day (AM or PM) every other week
Multiple days are welcome but not obligatory

We are now officially into our new 2026 routine! Our events are no longer held on the last Saturday of the month. We now meet on the 2nd Saturday of every month with our updated hours.
