Personalize a link for different visitors (Beta)

Change or hide a link based on a visitor's location or the platform they're using to view your Linktree.

🧪 Beta feature: This feature is currently in development and isn’t available to all Linkers just yet. We’re working hard to roll it out to everyone soon.

Visitors to your Linktree may be coming from different social media platforms in different countries, each with a different goal in mind. Personalizing your content for these scenarios helps ensure every visitor sees the most relevant version of your Linktree.

For example, with link Rules you can:

  • Translate link titles to local languages.

  • Add additional context to your link titles for specific visitors.

  • Use a localized version of a URL in certain countries.

  • Hide a link from visitors it's not relevant to.

How to configure personalization rules

  1. Go to the Links page and find the link you want to personalize.

    • 📝 Note: Link Apps don't support personalization. You can only dynamically hide or change classic links.

  2. Click the split arrows icon () to open Rules settings.

  3. Select the visitor conditions for your rule: the location(s) or platform(s) that will trigger it.

  4. Specify how you want the link to change under those conditions.

    • 💡 Tip: You can create additional rules to further personalize a link. Rules listed higher up are enforced before rules listed further down.

Previewing different versions of your Linktree

Once you've configured personalization rules, you can test them in the preview area of your Linktree Admin.

  • 📝 Note: On mobile, tap the eyes icon () to open the preview.

By default, the preview shows how your Linktree appears in your current location. To see how it appears in a different location or from a particular social media platform, click the sliders icon () at the top and apply visitor condition filters.

The preview reflects both the rules you've configured and the safeguards Linktree automatically applies when real visitors view your Linktree.

Why a link might be hidden in the preview

Sometimes, certain links won't appear under specific visitor conditions, independent of the rules you've configured. This can happen due to:

  • Local laws or regulatory requirements.

  • Platform or partner obligations.

  • Linktree content and safety rules.

If a link is affected by one of these safeguards, you'll see an alert in the preview panel letting you know that some content isn't shown for visitors in the selected conditions.

This alert means:

  • Your Linktree is working as expected.

  • The change is based on the visitor condition filters you selected.

  • The link hasn't been deleted or permanently removed.

To protect sensitive information and comply with legal requirements, the alert keeps explanations general and doesn't include specific details about individual rules.
