If you’ve recently subscribed to a Linktree plan, you might notice a $1 pre-authorization charge on your credit card statement. Don’t worry—this isn’t an actual charge, and it will be reversed automatically.
What is a pre-authorization charge?
A pre-authorization charge is not actually a charge but a temporary hold placed by your bank to verify that your card is valid. This process helps ensure your payment method is active before any actual charges are made. Notably, the $1 hold is held by the bank and never collected by Linktree.
How long does a pre-authorization charge last?
The time it takes for the charge to be removed from your statement depends on your bank. In most cases, it will be removed within a few minutes to a few days, but in some cases, it may take up to a few weeks. If the charge is not removed within a reasonable time, we recommend contacting your bank for more details.
It’s also important to note that:
If the full transaction amount is successfully processed before the hold period ends, the pre-authorization charge will be removed from your statement and replaced by the full transaction amount.
If the full transaction amount is not successfully processed then the $1 pre-authorization charge will be released and returned to your account.
