We’re Updating our Community Standards

At Linktree, we want to empower everyone to carve out their own space on the internet. At the same time, we want to ensure our platform is a safe and friendly environment for all.

That’s why we’re making some updates to our Community Standards.

For those of you in the adult content community, we want to assure you that our approach to Not Safe for Work (NSFW) content remains the same. You will continue to be able to link to NSFW content. These updates are focused exclusively on making our guidelines as clear and easy to understand as possible.

We’ve also clarified our standards across a variety of other categories, again with the aim of making them as clear as possible.

We will continue to reevaluate our standards on an ongoing basis to ensure they remain relevant and robust. We encourage all Linkers to review the updated standards in detail below.

Adult Content

You may:

• Create links to adult content, as long as it is legal in your region, doesn’t advertise full service sex work and is marked as sensitive. When adding a link to your Linktree, you may find that the sensitive content label is automatically applied. The rules regarding full service sex work are designed to help us comply with laws in all of our markets across the globe.
• Advertise adult media that you create and sell on other platforms.

You may not:

• Upload adult content, including nudity, to your Linktree avatar, link thumbnails, background, or PDFs.
• Embed social media feeds that would display adult content directly on your Linktree.
• Advertise full service sex work.
• Use Linktree commerce or payment locked links to collect payment or donations for adult content directly through Linktree.

Illegal goods and services

Linktree cannot be used to advertise, encourage, or facilitate the sale of regulated or illegal goods, services or activities, including (but not limited to):

• Alcohol. You may advertise the sale of alcohol with a liquor license, but you may not sell alcohol directly through Linktree commerce links.
• Controlled substances.
• Tobacco products, including e-cigarettes.
• Weapons, weapon schematics, accessories and ammunition, including firearms and real-life replicas lacking indicators that clearly denote they cannot be fired.
• Fireworks and explosives.
• Body parts (including body fluids, blood etc.) or offers of humans for sale.
• Endangered or protected species or parts of regulated plants, insects, animals.
• Offers for adoption / surrogacy.
• Counterfeit goods, including “dupes” of established brands.
• Recalled items.
• Stolen items.
• Products offered through multi-level marketing schemes.
• Embargoed goods.
• Hazardous / toxic materials.
• ID documents.
• Personal info or mailing lists.
• Gambling, including casino and betting games. Fantasy sports do not fall under this policy and may be freely shared on Linktree.
• Human trafficking.

Any content aimed at minors must not promote any content that is inappropriate, or that exploits or exerts undue pressure on the targeted individuals.

Spam and fraud

Don’t use Linktree to spam or scam visitors. This includes (but isn’t limited to):

• Linking out to external sites which might collect personal information under false pretenses.
• Creating a large number of accounts to advertise goods/services/domains.
• Creating a large number of accounts to collect affiliate per-click funds.

Self-harm

We want Linktree to be a place where Linkers can feel safe discussing and exploring mental health. Consequently, we prohibit content that promotes or idealizes suicide, self-mutilation, or disordered eating.

Privacy and impersonation

Maintaining individual privacy is very important for Linktree. We don’t allow Linktree profiles that expose others’ personal identifying information (billing details, IDs, etc.), collect identifying information (including IP addresses) without the appropriate legal basis (e.g. explicit consent), or expose private media (image-based sexual abuse, etc.). We also don’t allow Linktree profiles that impersonate other individuals or organizations.

If you collect personal information from visitors, you must ensure that you have a privacy notice that visitors can review before providing their personal data. This privacy notice must comply with all applicable privacy laws and regulations.

Misinformation

Don’t use Linktree to post, share or spread misinformation or disinformation. This includes any content that jeopardizes public safety, including but not limited to manipulated media, documentation, or conspiracy theories.

Examples:

• Content that is false, inaccurate, disproven, or designed to misinform others re: current events, social issues or crises.
• Potentially harmful alternatives to medical treatment.
• Claims that falsely exaggerate or trivialize the effects or origin of medical conditions or their scientifically-backed treatments, including in relation to COVID-19.
