Caroline Polachek is an American solo musician, formerly a member of the indie-pop group Chairlift. She has released one album and several EPs under her own name, as well as collaborating with other well-known artists.
Name: Caroline Polacheck
Birthday: June 20, 1985
Nationality: American
Zodiac sign: Gemini
Linktree username: carolinepolachek
According to a statement from Polachek, “Bunny Is A Rider” is “a summer jam about being unavailable.” She describes the titular Bunny as “slippery, impossible to get ahold of. Maybe it’s a fantasy, maybe it’s a bad attitude. But anyone can be bunny, at least for three minutes and 17 seconds.”
In her interview with Ace Hotel, Polacheck compares the physicality of singing to drawing and says she takes inspiration from Jacques Hurtu’s engravings. Polacheck also cites traditional Japanese and anime music as sources of inspiration, thanks to her early childhood in Tokyo.

The answer to this question isn’t as straightforward as one might think. Polachek has released several types of debuts. First, Polachek co-founded synth-pop band Chairlift, which released three studio albums beginning in 2008 (Moth, Something and Does You Inspire You) and two EPs (Daylight Savings and Chairlift at 6:15). During this time, Polachek also recorded a solo album called Arcadia under the moniker Ramona Lisa. Right before Chairlift disbanded in 2017, Polacheck released Drawing the Target Around the Arrow under her initials (CEP). It wasn’t until 2019 that she released Pang under her own name.
Polacheck released her first song in 2007 as part of the group Chairlift.
Born on June 20, 1985, Polachek is 37 at the time of writing.
Polachek preps for a concert by visualizing her look and the event itself. In a New York Times Style Magazine interview, she describes the importance of visualization, saying, “being an artist is, as far as I’m concerned, trusting your imagination. I used to look at creative people and see their output as a kind of weather pattern that was generated by the world – something inherent – but the more I do this, the more I realize that nothing good happens without being imagined in extreme detail.”

Polachek was born in New York City and later moved with her family to Tokyo, where she lived from ages one to six before moving back to the United States and putting down roots in Greenwich, CT. She attended college at the University of Colorado, where she founded the band Chairlift.
This isn’t an easy question because the Manhattan-born, Tokyo/Greenwich-raised songstress is always on the go, but she has spent many of the last several years in London.

Polachek’s most famous song is “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings,” with roughly 74 million streams on Spotify at the time of writing. It’s also her top song on Apple Music.
The sound of Polachek’s dreamy, psychedelic single, “Billions,” was inspired by trip-hop music. The song discusses the impacts of human excess, with Polachek explaining, “The overabundance of this world overwhelms me. Sometimes it seems like the ultimate tragedy, the Earth being pillaged and destroyed for it.”
Thanks to her writing credit on the track “No Angel,” Polachek was included in Beyoncé’s nomination for Album of the Year (as producer and engineer) at the 2014 Grammys.
Polachek married fellow musician Ian Drennan in 2015, and their fall nuptial celebrations appeared in Vogue magazine. The two divorced in 2017.

Anyone who’s moved by music and appreciates astrology will likely want to know what’s in the stars for their favorite performers. Here are the basics of her birth chart: Polachek’s sun sign is Gemini, her moon sign is Cancer and her rising sign is Virgo.
In addition to major R&B stars Beyoncé and Blood Orange, Polacheck has worked with Fischerspooner on the song “Togetherness.” She also released “Look Away” with Sbtrkt, “Sirens” with Flume, “La Vita Nuova” with Christine and the Queens, “New Shapes” with Charli XCX and others. She also opened for Dua Lipa on her 2022 Future Nostalgia tour.
