Have you ever rearranged your schedule to meet friends at your favorite restaurant just to get there and find the place isn’t even open? Putting in all that effort to have a good time just to show up at a closed dining room is kind of like investing a lot of work into producing a TikTok video only to post it when no one is watching.
Just like you need to check a restaurant’s hours before you go out, you should research the best time to post on TikTok before releasing your hottest new video. So what are the ideal times? As we’ll explain in more detail below, deciding when to post on social media is all about when your followers are watching. Each app’s algorithm works differently, but you create content for a specific audience, so you should ensure those people are online when you release new videos.
TikTok is all about niche content, so you may have better luck tailoring your posting times to your specific audience. With that caveat in mind, Influencer Marketing Hub analyzed 100,000 TikTok posts for optimal engagement rates and determined that these are the best days and times to post (all Eastern Time Zone):
Monday: 6 a.m., 10 a.m., 10 p.m.
Tuesday: 2 a.m., 4 a.m., 9 a.m.
Wednesday: 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 11 p.m.
Thursday: 9 a.m., 12 a.m., 7 p.m.
Friday: 5 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.
Saturday: 11 a.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m.
Sunday: 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 4 p.m.

You probably know when your TikTok audience is awake, which is a good starting point when deciding your peak times to post. But if you’re unsure where your viewers are concentrated, TikTok analytics can help – just look at Top Territories to check audience locations. You can view this data by clicking on the three dots in the bottom right-hand corner of a post and tapping Creator Tools, then Analytics. Only TikTok Pro accounts can access these analytics, so go ahead and create a Pro account if you haven’t already.

If you create TikTok content that’s popular halfway around the world, avoid posting new videos when your audience is asleep. Posting for other time zones may mean getting on TikTok in the middle of the night, but hey, whatever it takes to go viral, right?
You’ll also want to check out your Follower Activity analytics. This allows you to see when your TikTok followers are most active on the app, and you can launch new content during these times.

Mastering a social media algorithm is tough. You can do all the research you want on the best times to post, but you’ll still have to tweak your strategy from time to time. And scheduling isn’t the only thing that determines your content’s success. Part of the reason algorithms are so hard to crack is that they consider many factors. If you lean too hard on any given one, you may miss out on an opportunity to increase your engagement in another way.
